It all started in December 2019, when Hero Hound Director Michelle and husband Derek saw a beagle facing a deadline in West Tennessee. A rescue was ready to pull, an adopter was already secured, so all this beagle needed was someone willing to drive to the shelter (3.5 hours for us) and foster until transport could be arranged….how could we say no?

Well, fostering felt so good that pretty quickly 1 foster turned into 3 fosters that turned into many more. In less than a year, Michelle and her husband had fostered over 50 beagles and hounds in need for amazing rescues throughout the US. Thanks to these rescues, their advice and continued partnerships, Hero Hound Rescue was founded in August 2020 to help even more hounds in need.

Hero Hound Rescue, formally known as Hound Education and Rescue Operations, is a small foster-based 501c3 beagle and other hound rescue dedicated to saving hound lives through quality vet care, education and lots of love.

Adopt from Hero Hounds

Thank you for your interest in adopting from Hero Hound Rescue!
We believe in matching all of our dogs with the right furever family for their needs.
For this reason, we have a list of adoption requirements and ownership information that must be read
and acknowledged prior to any adoption of one of our dogs.

Support HERO

Hero Hound Rescue could not save hound lives without the help of our amazing donors and volunteers.

Thanks to temporary foster homes across the nation and so many volunteer transporters and coordinators,
Hero Hound was able to save over 30 hounds in its first 6 months of operations.

Hound Education

As part of our mission, Hero Hound Rescue is dedicated to hound education including educating the public on the plight of many hunting hounds in the Southern United States, education on the different hound breeds across the world and, most importantly, informing the public on what it is like to own a hound and the proper vet care and training needed to keep your hounds healthy, happy and living long love filled lives.
